DAILY ITINERARY
Each Guided trip needs to fit the angler and we would be glad to discuss what that day should look like. In fact, we will absolutely do that before we officially book anything. Some options available to you are:
- Oldman River and Bow River float trips: Join us in our Hyde drift boat as we let the rivers take us gently downstream to all the best fishing holes. This allows us to hit areas of the Oldman, and Bow Rivers that are not accessible by foot and have decreased fishing pressure.
- Drift & Wade trips: Particularly on rivers like the Oldman, Watertown, St Marys, and Castle we will be using drift boats to move downstream, stop, and walk and wade fish to target specific holes. The Oldman tailwater section has many current splits, and log jam areas that need to be carefully fished not to miss an opportunity!
- Half day Walk and Wade, half day Float: Especially with multi day trips, spending a half day walking and wading a piece of the middle section of the Oldman River, spending an early morning on the Crowsnest, Castle, Waterton, or St Marys river, followed by an afternoon rest and an evening float on the Oldman Tailwater is very popular. This gives the angler a full day and then some! In addition, a good sampling of two different rivers or styles of fishing in one day.
- Walk & Wade trips: Some rivers are just not big or deep enough for a drift boat. We are fortunate in Southern Alberta to have numerous streams and rivers within an hour’s drive that include, Racehorse Creek, Livingston River, Daisy Creek, Vicary Creek, Mill Creek, Pincher Creek, and numerous others. If you want to fish some of the incredible waters of the higher country this is how we do it. Let’s spend a day exploring!
Before the day begins we should have a good understanding of your skills, abilities, preferred fishing styles, and wishes. Establishing a relationship in advance also allows us to discuss how flexible each client is to adapt to river and weather conditions. On occasion, it is preferable to react and adapt to catch the best. That may mean earlier floats or later walk and wade, etc. We will tailor the day(s) to meet your needs. We are a catch and release based operation! Lets put the fish back to catch another day!
ORO’s first priority is your trip and sharing what Southern Alberta Fly Fishing has to offer.
